Genovefa Kolovou

Genovefa D. Kolovou is Director in the Department of Cardiology, Head of Out Patient Clinics, Preventive Cardiology and LDL Apheresis Unit in Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, Greece. She received medical degree from the Pomeranian Medical University of Szczecin, Poland and her cardiology training from the Athens University Medical School, Greece

Her clinical interest is general cardiology and dyslipidemias, and her research interest is postprandial lipemia, menopauseand gene polymorphisms, pharmacogenomics, rare genetic disorders and ageing/longevity. She has organized 18 doctoral theses. She received a Greek Academy Award (2002) for genetic research.

She is a president of HCTA (Hellenic College of Treatment of Atherosclerosis) and former president of Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society (2007-2009).

She has 200 entries on MEDLINE and >3000 citations. She is co-editor of several journals including The Open Cardiovascular Medicine Journal, Journal of Geriatric Cardiology and Vascular Disease Prevention. She has participated in several guideline/expert committees. She has 4 publications listed under “Most cited publications”. She is an author of 14 medical books. Hellenic Cardiac Society awarded the book Andropause, Menopause, Somatopause and Cardiovascular System in 2011.
